The Windows and Turret Arch, Utah

Total Distance: 1.2 miles
Elevation Gain: 154 feet

Trail Type: Loop
Difficulty: Easy

The Hike: This trail is a quick way to check 3 arches off your list while in Arches National Park. The trail leading to each arch is smooth and level, making this hike perfect for families or those in a hurry. Hikers are free to walk inside the massive “windows” in the rock and take pictures with towering formations in the background. After checking out both “windows”, keep heading towards signs for Turret Arch. This freestanding arch stands a bit isolated from the rest, but it’s worth walking over to checking out this unique formation.

Still want more arches? The trail to Double Arch is across the parking lot, and is also a quick way to see multiple arches on your visit.

The Details: Begin your hike at the Windows Trailhead – this parking area fills up quickly, so it pays to hike early or late in the day.

Since this hike is a loop, you have a choice of viewing The Windows or Turret Arch first. If heading straight towards The Windows, veer left at the trail intersection until you reach the north window. Then, continue straight down the trail until you reach the south window. From there, retrace your steps for a moment until you see signs for Turret Arch. After enjoying the views, continue along the trail until you reach the parking lot.

Gear: For this hike, we recommend bringing along either the Winter or Summer Day Hike Essentials, depending on the season.
