Best of all, this mountain is home to 360 degree and panorama views of the surrounding Appalachian Mountains. From the summit, hikers can easily view Mt. Mitchell, as well as the neighboring Tennessee mountains. It’s the perfect spot for afternoon picnics and epic sunset hikes alike, and is a beloved landmark for Appalachian Trail thru-hikers.
The Details: Start in the Max Patch Loop Trailhead Parking (35°47'44.6"N, 82°57'45.8"W), and begin your hike by following the trail up the mountain. After about .5 miles, you will reach the Appalachian Trail. Follow the AT up the mountain until you reach the 360 degree views. Once finished at the top, follow the trail down the mountain along a rustic wooden staircase.
