Gear Review: Title Nine Crash 2.0 Polartec Tights

Looking to stay outside even when the temperature drops? We spent the first few weeks of cold weather testing the Crash 2.0 Polartec Tights by Title Nine with snowy hikes and winter camping in mind. Made with Polartec fleece, the leggings offer insane comfort and exceptional durability to help you stay on trail no matter the weather.

Circumstances of Review: These leggings were thoroughly tested on hikes and road trips throughout both the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, and desert of Utah. Our testers wore them in conditions ranging from deep snow in Colorado, bitter cold desert mornings, and multiple single digit nights spent car camping. Temperatures ranged from 5 - 45°F.

We pride ourselves in testing all gear on multiple outings, and putting durability to the test in a multitude of weather, climate, and usability situations.

What We Love About These Leggings:

Let us introduce you to our new go-to winter leggings, the Crash 2.0 by Title Nine – although we have tested many winter leggings and tights in the past, these stand above the rest in both warmth and durability. Made with Polartec® fleece, the leggings offer “warmth without weight”, abrasion-resistance, and a comfortable fit that moves with your body – we also love the fact that 84% of the material is recycled!

Finally, we were so excited to find a fleece lined legging that was not only warm and durable, but insanely flattering. While many warmer leggings bunch and sag around the knees and butt, the Crash 2.0 sits tighter to your body for a more traditional athletic fit. We felt great wearing these tights on a colder hike, and keeping them on for a post-trail beer in town. The leggings are versatile and perfect for keeping warm in whatever outings are on your calendar this winter.

What We Think Could Be Better:

Although we love a lot of things about these leggings, one thing we wish was better is the length. Our testers were 4’11 and 5’2 respectively, and these leggings were considerably long on both body types. This additional length created “bunching” down around the ankles, which can get uncomfortable when stuffed in hiking socks or boots. Our recommendation to Title Nine is to offer a “short” option that eliminates this problem on women with shorter statures.

Additionally, although it adds an insane amount of warmth, the unique inclusion of Polartec Fleece makes these leggings slightly more thick and bulky than average. Although we will found the material and fit to be flattering, it’s worth nothing that with the added warm comes a little more bulk than is found in a traditional legging.

Overall Value

With many more winter days to come in the Rockies, we’re planning to give these leggings endless use on snowy hikes, nordic ski days, and cold nights at camp. Coming in at an average price for similar winter leggings – yet offering noticeably more warmth and durably – we definitely recommended these tights to women looking to stay outside and active all season long.
