Gear Review: Buff Merino Lightweight Wrap

Price: $29

Materials: 100% Merino Wool

Circumstances of Review: The buff headwrap was thoroughly tested on hikes and road trips throughout both the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, and desert of Utah. We pride ourselves in testing all gear on multiple outings, and putting durability to the test in a multitude of weather, climate, and usability situations.

The Buff Merino Lightweight Wrap is a classic piece of hiking gear that is insanely multi-functional and can be utilized throughout all four seasons. Made of 100% Merino Wool, the wrap is naturally antibacterial, which prevents malodors even after a few days or weeks of hiking with it.

What’s truly unique about this piece – along with all merino wool products – is how functional it is throughout the year. Merino wool is great at wicking moisture away from your skin in the warm summer months (or on sweaty winter hikes) and allows for a cooling sensation when things start getting too hot. In the colder months, wool is famous for how warm it’s able to keep hikers.

Utilizing this technology, Buff created a functional piece of merino wool headwear that can be worn a multitude of ways, from a scarf, to a face mask, headband, hat, and more. The wrap is breathable, quick-drying, and cozy – thanks to the merino wool – and comes in an endless range of fun colors and patterns.

We personally loved using it as a headband, and to keep our faces warm on colder hikes with lots of wind. The longer length of the piece – an impressive 20.5 inches – ensures that you’ll always have enough fabric no matter how you use the product, or the size of your head, hair, etc. Unlike other wool products that tend to be itchy, the Buff head wrap is soft to the touch and incredibly comfortable to wear throughout he day. All-in-all, this is a piece of gear that you can get endless use out of, and can be brought along on almost every trip. We recommended using this on day hikes and backpacking trips alike throughout all four seasons.
